Say it, then do it: the price of discipline
The gap between saying and doing is closed only by discipline: why a founder spends the holiday break learning and sharpening himself.
Many people like to talk about big visions and startup models that change the world. But the gap between saying and doing is a chasm, and only discipline can fill it.
For me, the survival rule in business is simple: if you have said it, you must roll up your sleeves and do it. There is no magic and no shortcut.
Behind every large goal is a machine that never stops
Every week is packed with strategy meetings, team alignment, product refinement, and pushing to complete our health technology platform faster. We work at full capacity and solve each bottleneck in turn. Nothing is left for tomorrow.
A public holiday is coming, and many people are planning trips. My schedule is set aside for a course to upgrade my thinking on brand building.
When you are shaping a decent business ecosystem and bringing technology and data into proactive health care, you realize that yesterday's knowledge can already be outdated. Stopping for a beat means removing yourself from the game. For those who run a business, a holiday is a valuable pause to pull back, recharge, sharpen the tools, and prepare for a new wave of growth.
What discipline is
Discipline is not working furiously when inspiration strikes. Discipline is when everyone around you is resting and you keep moving forward, quietly, one step at a time.
Do not demand freedom and outstanding results if your work habits and way of thinking are still those of the crowd that is resting.
The path of a startup is harsh, but it is also fair. Talk less, deliver what you say, and prove everything through real action.
