Build Assets So Money Works for You: A Company Is an Asset, Not a Job
Starting from an idea by Naval Ravikant on owning assets, I reflect on building HOPE CORP into an enduring entity that can outlast its founder.
This morning, while meditating and listening again to Naval Ravikant on "the game of life", I stopped at a very practical idea:
You will never get rich by renting out your time. You must own equity, a piece of a business, to gain your financial freedom.
That idea touches exactly what I have been wrestling with, and acting on, at HOPE CORP.
Escaping the trap of trading time for income
Most of us were taught to work for someone else, or to run a business that mainly pays us for our own labor. But as Naval says, whether it is shares or any other form of investment, the end goal is to own something that creates value without needing your presence 24/7.
Build the company as an asset, not a job
That is why I do not focus only on selling. I am optimizing cost of goods and applying the Profit First principle, for two reasons:
- So the organization can run in a healthy way on its own.
- So HOPE CORP becomes an entity of real substance, able to attract international investment funds.
At that point the company is no longer a job that takes all my time. It becomes an asset that can go further than its founder.
Clear-headedness in investing
Naval uses shares and digital assets as examples of accumulating assets. For me, the biggest asset right now is the trust of our community and the care we take for their wellbeing. When we build on real value and transparency, that asset grows steadily over time.
In 2026, do not just work hard. Learn to own smart. Turn each working hour into a brick in a tower of assets, not just an invoice for today.
